If you want a lovely house with first class hosts, in a beautiful setting, then La Drutiere is for you. The house was our base for a week of D Day anniversary related activity and although an hour or so from the coast, the roads are great and it gave us opportunity to visit places not normally seen. Falaise, for example, home of William (the Conqueror) has a magnificent castle and you could easily spend a day there, with a nice long lunch of course.
Back to the house which was well equipped and very comfortable although words of warning - quite a few steps and steep staircases so challenging if mobility is an issue. The main kitchen was our evening haven, and the eight of us enjoyed some great suppers there, washed down with plentiful local wine and cider. The garden is a delight, with loads of space and much to keep the grown up kids entertained from Table Tennis world championships to water polo in the pool. Much fun was had by all.
Pippa and Gary were perfect hosts - welcoming and helpful when needed but unobtrusive.
We would have no issue in recommending La Drutiere to others and would certainly return.
